The brandnew publication on the “Groove it”
label of Tunesday Records, which has been specifically
created in order to supply active musicians with good
grooving, high-grade production playalongs:
This
CD is offering the ideal accompanying band for all
percussionists, who like to practice with a “bandfeeling”.
You
cannot cheat this accompanying band, because it keeps
the time precisely (in the booklet you will find the
metronome numbers), therefore this will help you not
only to practice and improve your grooves, but also
– and mainly – to have a precise timekeeping.
It
is important to say that the CD shows a didactically
sensible construction: In addition to the most different
funk-, rock-, pop- and fusion grooves (playalongs),
you will hear examples with percussion-grooves and/or
fills. The playbacks begin with a short percussion
upbeat, trailing in other instruments (keyboards,
guitar, bass) and implying the groove-feeling. In
the following all drums are faded out. We also
deliberately renounced to a metronome, for obtaining
a rather genuine “bandfeeling”.
In order to direct the drummer’s concentration
completely on the groove of the other instruments,
we renounced to a great deal on solo parts, however
there are some small solo-spots (guitar, saxophone,
trumpet, piano), which liven up the pieces and set
accents and highlights to the playbacks.

The
CD was created following suggestions of committed
drummers, music dealers and percussion-teachers. Prior
to the publication, audio-samples have been distributed
to dealers and music schools, causing a very positive
feed-back.
This
CD is a MUST for drummers, going for earthy funk-,
pop- and fusion-grooves and who want at the same time
to improve their groove-capability and just want to
have the utmost playing fun!
The
CD was produced by Jörg Sieghart, who was already
able to catch excellent press-quotes with his “Playbacks
for Improvisation”-CDs (for lead-instruments)
(see below!
STICKS
(Issue:
12/2003) quote to the “Playback CD for Drummers”:
“The
band-feeling comes rather naturally .... The
CD can be investigated by self-study and allows good
possibilities also in courses for a diversified and,
most important of all, reality-true practicing. There
is no more need for nailing the groove all by yourself,
but from now on the musician can completely relax
in a wonderful band-atmosphere, having also the advantage
that the playback-partner is strictly regarding an
incorruptible time. Therefore playing fun is absolutely
in the foreground and – according to your gradually
improving technical playing standard – the musician
will be more and more able to refine and develop his
drum grooves, to bring them to the point, etc.
As
for each playback-song from the quoted style sectors
of the pop music there are corresponding selectable
demo-drumgrooves on this CD, which you can either
copy or use as a pattern, it is almost impossible
to get lost. Thus you will always have a reliable
orientation, subject to recall.
This
is really a first class record, which we can doubtlessly
recommend!”
